When the vacuum level falls below the set point, the diaphragm opens the valve and allows air to enter in order to increase the pressure again. In pharmaceutical production, vacuum regulators are used to control pressure during lyophilisation (freeze-drying) and sterile packaging, where precise and stable negative pressure is crucial to product quality.
